Application of Information Organizational Principles in an Electronic Environment: a Model for Digital Library

This paper presents the dissertation research which has a purpose to analyze how information organizational principles in digital libraries changes and what new principles are required to fulfill the demands of a valuable information retrieval in the electronic environment. Qualitative analyses will be used to launch an exploration of the dominant information organization in digital libraries trends and requirements. The European and Lithuanian strategic documents, funding programmes and projects documentation as key instruments for the formulation and implementation of strategic objectives and principles will be analyzed. As a result of this dissertation, model of information organization for digital libraries will be created. According to this model the framework and recommendations for developing interoperable digital library infrastructures will be provided.
