Semantic Interoperability of Library Linked Data: ISBD and RDA

Users need to be able to find and identify resources that meet their needs in terms of usability and access. Modern wide-area resource discovery services present users with a wide and potentially confusing range of physical and digital information objects. In particular, new formats continue to be developed for digital resources carrying an increasing variety of content; the compact disk is no longer confined to recorded audio. Recent developments in cataloguing rules for creating bibliographic metadata attempt to improve the recording of information object content and carrier categories to meet the needs of their users.
